Plastic printers are used to create everything from driver’s license to security badges today. Some of the most important cards in the world are printed by PVC card printers. Many people don’t know that there are different types of plastic printers that print their medical cards and work badges. We are going to go into a few of the different types below and some of what they do. These machines create colors, magnetic strips and what is also known as “smart cards.”
Color plastic printers are just like they sound. They are capable of printing colors or printing without color. Many of these types of printers are capable of printing projects in half color and half non color for a dramatic touch.
There are also one sided and two sided plastic printers. This simply means that they are capable of one side printing color and the other side printing colorless. Single sided printers are the type often used in schools and places that don’t have high security. The two sided printers are used mostly in places that need added security. You simply print up your card, add a badge reel to your badge and you are all set to go.
Many printers also come with the capability to laminate for added security. But they also require a certain type of plastic card.
Digital plastic printers are faster and more efficient ways to print cards. You can also encode magnetic strips and smart card chips with a digital plastic printer.
Ultraviolet plastic printers are really well suited to printing on plastic. Ultraviolet plastic printers can work with heat or cold and print faster and in greater volume than some of the other types of plastic printers.
Many plastic printers these days come with built in security features that make it harder for hackers to get your information. For example, if you are printing high security documents some printers have a log in system to keep them from being used by just anyone. This keeps sensitive information safe and adds to confidence in the system.
