Georgia Tech recently launched a pilot program to test the effect that accepting the campus’ BuzzCard as payment would have on concession sales at sporting events, reports the Technique. The pilot came in to response to Auburn University’s 50% increase in sales with the implementation of a similar system.
The campus plans to continue the program at all upcoming basketball games, and some baseball and football games. Officials have set a goal to take the system into the football stadium, increasing both merchandise sales and student satisfaction.
The students of Georgia Tech already use their BuzzCards for a range of services including dining, vending, laundry, copy & print, and parking.
Georgia Tech officials hope to eventually expand BuzzCard use as a debit card around Atlanta.
